Thank you for using that term: “Outdoor [Adventure] Industrial Complex” I have been thinking the same thing and used the same term minus the word in brackets for a few years now. It’s no longer the community of professional explorers, athletes and educators I once knew. It has now submitted entirely to patriarchy’s capitalism as an industrial complex - rather than a field of study, community and discipline. Fringe members still remain of the former community and ”science” that the outdoors once were.
